The rice gene Os04g0477300 was reported as BET1 in 2011[1] by researchers from Japan.

Annotated Information

Gene Symbol

  • Os04g0477300 <=> BET1, ONAC081, ONAC81, NAC81

Function

  • BORON EXCESS TOLERANT1 is a gene responsible for tolerance to boron (B) toxicity in rice (Oryza sativa).
  • BET1 gene encodes a NAC (NAM, ATAF, and CUC)-like transcription factor and the function of the transcript is abolished in B-toxicity-tolerant cultivars.

Expression

  • Quantitative RT-PCR analysis revealed that BET1 gene was expressed mainly in the roots and the expression level was less in the shoots in 7-d-old seedlings.

Evolution

You can also add sub-section(s) at will.

Labs working on this gene

  • Laboratory of Plant Nutrition, Division of Applied Life Sciences (K.O., T.M.) and Laboratory of Breeding, Division of Applied Biologies (Y.O.), Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University, Kyoto 606–8502, Japan;
  • Department of Biological Resources Management, School of Environmental Science, University of Shiga Prefecture, Hikone 522–8533, Japan (A.S);
  • Laboratory of Plant Nutrition and Fertilizers, Department of Applied Biological Chemistry, Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, University of Tokyo, Tokyo 113–8657, Japan (T.F.)
