The rice Os07g0592600 was reported as GH3-8 in 2008 [1] by researchers from China.
Contents
Annotated Information
Gene Symbol
- Os07g0592600 <=> OsGH3-8, OsMGH3, OsGH3.8
Function
- The rice GH3-8 is an auxin-responsive gene functioning in auxin-dependent development, activates disease resistance in a salicylic acid signaling– and jasmonic acid signaling–independent pathway.
- Upregulation of GH3-8Enhances Disease Resistance but Causes Abnormal Morphology
- GH3-8 Is an IAA–Amido Synthetase and Modulates Auxin Homeostasis
Phenotypic analysis
- Overexpression of GH3-8 results in enhanced disease resistance to the rice pathogen Xanthomonas oryzae pv oryzae. * This resistance is independent of jasmonic acid and salicylic acid signaling. Overexpression of GH3-8 also causes abnormal plant morphology and retarded growth and development.
- Both enhanced resistance and abnormal development may be caused by inhibition of the expression of expansins via suppressed auxin signaling.
Expression
- GH3-8 Expression Is Regulated by Multiple Factors
- The function of GH3-8 is tissue-specific, growth stage–specific, and signal molecule–regulated.
Labs working on this gene
- National Key Laboratory of Crop Genetic Improvement, National Center of Plant Gene Research (Wuhan), Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan 430070, China
