Annotated Information
Function
Pathogenesis-related proteins have production/accumulation represents an essential component of the active plant defence repertoire. They are defined as plant proteins that are induced specifically in pathological or related situations.Activation of OsPR1 genes is an important part of the defence/stress response(s) in rice.
Expression
OsPR1a and OsPR1b genes were primarily characterized against jasmonic acid, ethylene and protein phosphatase 2A inhibitors. The dicot PR1 are recognized as reliable marker genes in defence/stress responses.SA, ABA and H2O2 up-regulate the expression of OsPR1a and OsPR1b genes(fig1) (fig2).

Evolution
Alignment of the deduced rice PR1 protein sequence (OsPR1a) with homologous sequences(fig3). The most homologous monocot sequences were identified by database searches with the Blast algorithm, whereas the Arabidopsis thaliana and tobacco sequences are shown as examples of dicot PR1 genes. An arrowhead indicates the putative processing site and boxes indicate the consensus regions I and II. Asterisks represent identical amino acid residues and dashes indicate gaps introduced to optimize alignment.
