Os06g0622700 is a homolog of ATbZIP60. The Os06g0622700 bZIP transcription factor
obtained by microarray analyses showed that expression of

Os06g0622700 was 1.9-fold enhanced by suppression of

BiP1 and 3.3-fold enhanced by over-expression of BiP1

compared to wild-type. RT-PCR analysis of Os06g0622700

expression in these transgenic rice seeds at 14 DAF also

supported this result. As shown in Figure 6(a), the transcript

abundance of Os06g0622700 in these transgenic seeds

during maturation was significantly higher than that of wildtype.

Furthermore, transcript levels of Os06g0622700 in rice

calli were increased by treatment with DTT or tunicamycin

(Figure 1b and c). By contrast, transcript levels of

the other two bZIPs exhibited little difference between these

transgenic lines and wild-type rice. Treatment of calli with

DTT or tunicamycin also led to no significant change in

expression of the two bZIPs (Figure 1b). These results

suggested that the Os06g0622700 bZIP transcription factor

Os06g0622700 is a homolog of ATbZIP60. The Os06g0622700 bZIP transcription factor plays a critical role in the induction of chaperone genes.[[during maturation was significantly higher than that of wildtype.

RT-PCR expression profile of a rice bZIP transcription factor containing a TMD. (a) Expression during seed development. (b) Expression under ER stress conditions in callus. (c) Induction of GUS activity by T2 callus containing the Os06g0622700 promoter:GUS construct after treatment with 2 mM DTT for 6 h. The photographs on the bottom left show GUSstained calli with or without DTT treatment (scale bars = 1 mm). The bottom right panel shows quantitative measurement of GUS activity in these calli [4-methylumbelliferone (4-MU) production rate over 1 h].
