A genomic database search revealed that the rice genome encodes seven SACPD-like proteins that have 46 to 86% amino acid sequence identity with Arabidopsis SSI2Prediction of subcellular targeting by using the TargetP and WoLF PSORT prediction programs suggested that Os01g0919900,Os01g0880800, and Os08g0199400 are localized in the chloplast or mitochondrion, whereas the others are present in chloroplasts.These predictions are consistent with findings that FA synthesis in plants occurs mainly in plastids .
