Rice P1B-Type Heavy-Metal ATPase, OsHMA9, is a metal efflux protein. OsHMA9 is localized to the plasma membrane, and Cu, Zn, and efflux lead from the cells. The T-DNA insertion mutant alleles of OsHMA9 results demonstrate that OsHMA9 is required for conferring tolerance to high levels of Cu, Zn, and Pb.
