Pyruvate kinase (PK; ATP:pyruvate 2-O-phosphotranferase, EC 2.7.1.40) is a key regulatory enzyme of the glycolyticpathway. It catalyzes the final step of glycolysis, converting ADP and phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) toATP and pyruvate by essentially irreversible transphosphorylation.This enzyme is critical for the control of the metabolicflux through the glycolytic pathway. Moreover, its substrate (PEP) and product (pyruvate) are both involved in a variety of metabolic processes. Thus, PK plays a key role in the cellular metabolic flux [2].The role of PK in plant growth and development is an interesting subject, because growth and development are closely linked to agricultural economy[3].Pyruvate kinase (PK) catalyzes the final step of glycolysis.Pyruvate kinase (PK; ATP:pyruvate 2-O-phosphotranferase,EC 2.7.1.40) is a key regulatory enzyme of the glycolytic pathway. Evolution
a single T-DNA was inserted in the transcriptional regulatory region of OsPK1 in ospk1. Quantitative RT-PCR result showed that OsPK1 expression was decreased by approximately 90% in ospk1 compared with that in WT [2].There are 4 homologous genes in the Pyruvate kinase family, they are Os04g067750, Os10g0571200,Os01g0276700 and Os03g0672300 .by MEME program analysis show that the family has completely conservative sequences,basically the same the order of sequences,The diversity of four mtOsPKs expression in rice may be adapted to different environment in evolution[1].
