Function
The OSmyb4 cDNA of rice(cv.Arborio) was isolated from a coleoptile cDNA library[1].Myb4 overexpressing plants show a significant increased cold and freezing tolerance, measured as membrane or Photosystem II (PSII) stability and as whole plant tolerance. Finally, in Osmyb4 transgenic plants, the expression of genes participating in different cold‐induced pathways is affected, suggesting that Myb4 represents a master switch in cold tolerance.
Expression
The expression of the gene Osmyb4, detected at low level in coleoptiles grown for 3 days at 29°C,but OSmyb4 mRNA was strongly increased after a 4-h treatment at 4℃ in 3-day rice coleoptiles, otherwise, neither salt, drought, high tempture or anoxia , nor treatment with ABA and IAA affected OSmyb4 expression . Anaerobically germinated rice did not express OSmyb4.
