Function

Abscisic acid (ABA) is an essential phytohormone that regulates plant stress responses. The gene Os10g0573400 possesses most of the key protein functions of ABA-related genes. Studies on rice ABA receptors are compulsory to know the properties of ABA and this gene has significance in expressing one of ABA receptors named OsPYL1 in rice. In two species (A. thaliana and O. sativa), duplicate genes include Os10g0573400 related to ABA signaling pathways contribute to the expression variation in different organs or stress responses.

Expression

This gene is related to the expression of ABA metabolism and its signaling pathways. Key protein functions of ABA metabolism are not fully conserved and tend to be unique in each of the species studied. ABA synthesized in vascular tissues is transported to other locations such as guard cells, roots or seeds but cellular processes in targeted cells are due to the expression of genes related to ABA signaling pathways. Proteins related to ABA signaling pathways may have a higher expression variation among different organs or stress responses in comparison with those of ABA metabolism.

Evolution

It is the common ancestor of many species such as A. thaliana, Arabidopsis lyrata, Populustrichocarpa, Oryza sativa, Selaginella moellendorffii, and Physcomitrella patens.Twelve ABA receptor orthologs named OsPYL1–12 in Oryza sativa (OsPYLs) are identified. OsPYL1 corresponds to Os10g0573400 which is showed in the following chaters.

OC7 includes PYR1, PYL1, PYL2, PYL3, PYL4,PYL5, PYL6, PYL7, PYL8, PYL9, PYL10, PYL11, PYL12, and PYL13 (underlined). Genes of A. thaliana, A. lyrata, P. trichocarpa, O. sativa, S. moellendorffii, and P. patens begin with"AT","Araly1","POPTR","Os","Selmol"and "Phypa1_1", respectively.
