OsDIL (Os10g0148000) encoding a lipid transfer protein, OsDIL has an open reading frame of 348 bp, encoding a basic protein of 115 amino acids with a calculated molecular weight of 12.22 kDa and a pI of 5.67. Analysis of the OsDIL sequence using the SignalP program (http://genome.cbs. dtu.dk/services/SignalP) revealed a putative cleavage site for a signal peptide between residues 26 (A) and 27 (G).OsDIL contains an N-terminal region with 17 hydrophobic residues (9–26 aa) similar to typical signal peptides for the secretory pathway and eight cysteine residues highly conserved in plant ns-LTP family (Fig. S2A).
