Function
PGR5(PROTON GRADIENT REGULATION 5)gene is required for Rice photosystem I(PSI) cyclic electron transpor. The fucntions of PGR5 as follow:
1.PGR5-dependent PSI cyclic electron transporthelps to restore the balance of the oxidation of chloroplasts.
2.PGR5 plays an key role in maintaining reduction capability the iron oxide-dependent protein bodies quinone when the rice chloroplast damage.
3.PGR5 is required for ferredoxin (Fd)-dependent plastoquinone (PQ) reduction in ruptured chloroplasts of rice.
4.CO(2) fixation and growth rate are very robust in the face of alterations in the fundamental reactions of photosynthesis under constant light conditions in rice.
