Aliases | - |
Protein Name | Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 |
Function | The major function of the protein is the regulation of the availability of insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) in tissue as well as in modulating IGF binding to its receptors. Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein-7 (IGFBP7) was suggested to function as a tumor suppressor gene in several cancers, and to play a role in the proliferation of keratinocytes. RNA-editing will change the protease recognition site of matriptase to stabilize the IGFBP7 protein. |
Species | Human |
Editing Sites | 3 |
Disease | Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma; Squamous Cell Carcinoma; Basal Cell Carcinoma; |
Description | RNA editing in IGFBP7 promotes cell apoptosis in the tumor, but the inadequate A-to-I editing of IGFBP7 may be used by tumor cells to escape the cellular control of proliferation. |
