Disease Description: A functional stricture or spasm of the muscles of the esophagus where it joins the stomach.

Inherit Mode: -

Disease Symptom: Lung abscesses, productive cough, and coughing blood are some of the more severe pulmonary consequences of achalasia-associated aspiration.

Disease Cause: The exact cause of achalasia is not known.

Treat Method: The most widely accepted theories implicate autoimmune disorders, infectious diseases, or both.
