Abstract

A key management function is making strategic decisions when there is competition for scarce resources. The authors report an in-depth study of decision making and the choices made by nurse executives when acquiring, distributing, and redistributing funds, information, space, and personnel. They describe successful strategies for resource allocation and present a model for analyzing strategic decisions.
