Abstract

The gap between the worlds of nursing practice and nursing education became a reality for the authors when they entered academia after several years of practice. Expecting openness and respect from nursing staff, they often encountered subtle resistance and skepticism instead. The experience inspired them to conduct a study comparing staff and faculty perceptions of nurse educators. What they found led them to believe that faculty and staff may need to correct and align perceptual differences in order to work together more effectively.
