Abstract

Despite the presence of a range of supportive rehabilitation services for people who have had cardiac surgery or myocardial infarction, it was noted that patients were experiencing difficulty in the period between discharge and attending out-patient services. This paper describes the introduction of a home-visiting service by district nursing staff, supported by a cardiac rehabilitation nurse specialist. The service appears to be useful to clients and was set up with a modest investment of time and money.
