In the 1995-based forecasts the short-term assumptions on fertility and immigration are revised downwards in comparison with the previous forecasts. As a result the forecast of total population size is lower: according to the new forecasts total population size in 2010 will be 16.7 million compared with 16.8 million according to the previous forecast."
