Abstract

Nurses are ideally placed to provide an individualised service to people with learning disabilities living at home or in residential accommodation. Acting as key change agents, nurses can encourage clients to live as independently as possible in their own communities and can improve the quality of life offered to individuals and their families. This unit is relevant to UKCC PREP categories of Care Enhancement, Reducing Risk and Practice Development.
