Abstract

Mood disorders, including depression, are the most common psychiatric disorders encountered in elderly people. The care team in geriatric psychiatry comes together in order to perform effective therapeutic actions in daily practice, optimising the effects of this global care. The relational approach of the caregiver is fundamental as it favours the encounter with the elderly patient. This caregiving approach and the coherence of the multidisciplinary team help to construct real links, to gain the trust of the elderly patient and take into account his or her suffering.
