Title substate transitions of reactive astrocytes
Relevance Model organism
Data types proteome
Organisms Mus musculus
Description Reactive astrocytes play important roles in brain injury, stroke, neurodegenerative diseases, and aging. Traditionally, they have been classified into neurotoxic (A1) and neuroprotective (A2) subtypes based on disease conditions and gene expression patterns. In this study, we reported a consistent progression from a nonreactive state to a neuroprotective substate, and ultimately to a neurotoxic substate in astrocytes when exposed to inflammatory stimuli.
