PURPL is a p53-dependent transcription driven by a MER61C LTR. CMS4 tumors with low PURPL expression were associated with poor patient survival[1].

Function

Expression

In CRC patient samples, PURPL expression positively correlated with a wild-type p53-associated gene expression signature. PURPL expression was increased in primary colorectal tumors and displayed a bimodal distribution that was particularly pronounced in the mesenchymal CMS4 consensus molecular subtype of CRCs[1].
