Characteristics

Schematic representation of HAND2-AS1 sequence conservation in different species. [1].

HAND2-AS1 is located on chromosome 4q33–34 in a head-to-head orientation with HAND2 with both genes being separated by a nucleotide sequence of 228 bp.[2]

The only putative start codon of HAND2-AS1 in a strong context is located in exon 4 and corresponds to the coding sequence of XM_496724.[1]

Expression

Northern blot analysis reveal strong HAND2-AS1 expression in five stage IVS tumors and weak HAND2-AS1 expression in six stage IV tumors.[1]

Function

HAND2-AS1 may contribute to the molecular definition of particular subtype of neuroblastoma.[1]

Evolution

The nucleotide sequences of HAND2-AS1 variants A and B are conserved among various mammals such as dog, mouse, and rat, with similarities ranging from 62% to 71%.[1]
