1Summary
Title Polysaccharides derived from Rosa rugosa cv. Plena ameliorate colorectal cancer by regulating intestinal microbiota composition and lipid metabolism pathway
Description This study elucidated the mechanism by which rose polysaccharide RPP1 inhibits cancer (CRC) induced by AOM/DSS. RPP1 was characterized by HPLC as an octamonosaccharide polymer through water extraction and chromatographic purification. Comprehensive multi omics analysis shows that RPP1 reshapes the composition of the gut microbiota by inhibiting pro-inflammatory Bacteroides and Desulfovibrio, while enriching beneficial Bacteroides and Bacteroides. These microbial changes are associated with the downregulation of fecal phosphatidylcholine (PC) and lysophosphatidylcholine, disrupting the metabolism of ether lipids, glycerophospholipids, and sphingolipids. Mechanism correlation analysis further indicates that the regulation of LPC levels by RPP1 is mediated by the modulation of Bacteroides/Clostridium. Transcriptomics confirms that lipid metabolism pathways are inhibited, while NOD like receptors (NLR) and PPAR immune signals are activated.
