| Title | Stroke and microglia |

| Description | In this study, we provide novel insights into these processes, demonstrating that ischemic injury via middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) in male mice induces persistent microglial activation that perpetuates chronic inflammation and disrupts neurorestorative mechanisms. Using a multifaceted approach that integrates histochemical analyses, cell quantification, bulk RNA sequencing, and single-cell transcriptomics, we identified distinct stroke-associated foamy microglia (SAM-foamy) clusters characterized by extensive reprogramming of cholesterol metabolism. |
