Annotated Information

Figure 1. Tissue expression pattern of OsPT9 and OsPT10 under phosphate (Pi)-sufficient (+P) and Pi-starvation (−P) conditions.[1].

Gene Symbol

  • Os06g0324800 <=> PT10,OsPT10,OsPHT1;10

Function

  • High-affinity Km values for Pi transport of OsPT9 and OsPT10 were determined by yeast experiments and two-electrode voltage clamp analysis of anion transport in Xenopus oocytes expressing OsPT9 and OsPT10.
  • OsPT9 and OsPT10 are high-affinity Pi transporters.
  • OsPT9 and OsPT10 redundantly function in Pi uptake.

Expression

  • Semi-quantitative RT-PCR analysis of seedlings grown in solution cultures under Pi-sufficient (+P) or Pi-starvation (–P) conditions as well as starvation of other essential nutrients showed that the expression of OsPT9 and OsPT10 in both roots and leaves was specifically induced by Pi starvation
  • The GUS staining analysis showed expression of OsPT9 in both roots and leaves under Pi starvation (–P). In contrast, no GUS staining was observed under either Pi-sufficient (+P) or –P conditions for OsPT10 (Fig. 1b).
