The rice Os11g0592900 was reported as BGL11(t) in 2013 [1] by researchers from China.

Annotated Information

Figure 1. Plant phenotype of the bgl11 mutant and its wild-type parent.[1].

Gene Symbol

  • Os11g0592900 <=> BGL11(t)

Function

  • BGL11(t) is a novel gene regulating leaf-color mutation in rice

Phenotypic analysis

  • The bgl11 mutant exhibited a distinct bright-green leaf phenotype throughout development (Fig. 1). At the maturity, the number of productive panicles per plant and seed setting rate of bgl11 mutant reduced by 8.7 and 9.3 % to its wild-type parent, respectively.
  • However, the other major agronomic traits of bgl11 mutant, including the plant height, panicle length, number of spikelets per panicle, and 1,000-grain weight were not affected remarkably compared with its wild-type parent
