• GF14s belong to the 14-3-3 protein group and have eight isoforms, designated as GF14a–h in rice ( Chen et al. 2006a , Yao, et al. 2007), that share 85–95% amino acid identity ( Fig. 2A ). To determine whether the GF14 genes are expressed in rice organs, we performed semi-quantitative reverse transcription–PCR (RT–PCR) using specifi c primers ( Fig. 2B ).
