Welcome to ScienceWikis
A catalog of biological knowledge wikis
|
ScienceWikis is a catalog of biological knowledge wikis, aiming to exploit the full potential of wiki technology in life sciences.
Purpose & Aims
The purpose of ScienceWikis is as follows.
- Build biological knowledge wikis, such as, a wiki-based annotation system for specific species.
- Develop wiki extensions to facilitate content creation, editing, visualization, exchange and sharing.
- Measure users' contributions, give explicit authorship, and provide a standard practice for rewarding users' contributions in bio-wikis.
Ongoing sub-projects
Biological knowledge wikis
- RiceWiki: a wiki-based gene annotation system for rice.
- WikiCell: a portal for a unified view of the human transcriptome.
- ESND (under construction): a wiki-based English-to-Chinese Scientific Nomenclature Dictionary.
- iBio (under construction): my biology + my biography, personal biographical wiki for biological researchers, archiving e-books and personal scientific collections.
Wiki extensions
Develop wiki extensions to facilitate biological content creation and editing, data visualization, exchange and sharing through a variety of e-utility methods.
- ScienceReward: measure users' contributions, give explicit authorship, and provide a standard practice for rewarding users' contributions in bio-wikis.
- LiMi: literature mining in aid of gene annotation in biological knowledge wikis.
- ColSeq: color molecular sequence according to sequence features.
Funding
ScienceWikis is supported by the “100-Talent Program” of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Y1SLXb1365).
