4.2 Variation ID Nomenclature
4.2.1 SNP & small I/D
We established the genome sequence variation nomenclature rules in BIGD Genome Variation Maps (GVM) by referencing the Sequence Variation Nomenclature (http://varnomen.hgvs.org).
To make the description of sequence variants more clearly, we recommend including the species and a string of numbers starting at 1 in the genome sequence variation ID.
Format: "Three letters short for organism name" + “a string of numbers starting at 1”.
e.g. osa123456 osa is three letters organism code which is short for rice
e.g. hsa1 has is short for Homo sapiens (human)
