| Description | This project investigates the role of furin mediated cleavage of zona pellucida proteins in female fertility using a mouse model with a heterozygous mutation in Zp2. Disruption of the furin cleavage site in Zp2 leads to abnormal protein processing, impaired zona pellucida formation, and oocyte degeneration. Single cell RNA sequencing of ovaries from mutant and wild type mice was performed to explore transcriptional changes in folliculogenesis, oocyte maturation, and intercellular communication. The dataset provides insights into the molecular mechanisms linking defective post translational modification of zona pellucida proteins to female infertility. |
