Amos Bairoch
Head of neXtProt and Director of the Department of Human Protein Science, University of GenevaProfessor of Bioinformatics and Director of the Department of Human Protein Science at the University of Geneva, Dr. Bairoch is head of the CALIPHO group of the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics. Until June 2009, he headed the Swiss-Prot group which develops the UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot knowledgebase as well as PROSITE and ENZYME. He has been awarded several distinctions, among which the European Latsis Prize, the Otto Naegeli Prize and the HUPO Distinguished Achievement Award.
Philip E. Bourne
Associate Director for Data Science, National Institutes of Health (NIH)Dr. Bourne is the Associate Director for Data Science at NIH. Formally he was Associate Vice Chancellor for Innovation and Industry Alliances, a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of California San Diego, Associate Director of the RCSB Protein Data Bank and an Adjunct Professor at the Sanford Burnham Institute. He has published over 300 papers and 5 books, one of which sold over 150,000 copies.
Takashi Gojobori
Professor of Bioscience, KAUSTTakashi Gojobori is a Distinguished Professor of Bioscience in King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia. Until he moved to KAUST in 2013, he has been the Vice-Director and Professor of National Institute of Genetics (NIG), Mishima, Japan. He has also hold Visiting Professorship for a number of leading Universities such as the University of Tokyo, Keio University, Nihon University, and National Cheng Kong University in Taiwan.
Michal Linial
Professor of Biochemistry and Bioinformatics, the Hebrew University of JerusalemMichal Linial is the director of the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI) (from 2012). She was the director of the Sudarsky Center for Computational Biology from 2003-2013 and the founder and chair of the educational program for Computational Biology in HUJI (from 1999). Prof. Linial obtained her Ph.D. in Molecular biology (1986) from HUJI and completed her post-doctoral training in Stanford, USA in molecular neuroscience. On 1989 she joined the faculty of HUJI.
Johanna McEntyre
Head of Literature Services, EMBL-EBIJohanna McEntyre is Team Leader for Literature Services at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI), where she is responsible for developing Europe PMC, the European database for full-text life science research articles (http://europepmc.org). Her primary focus is on the integration of the open access literature with open life sciences data, to develop new ways for researchers to access and discover useful information.
GuoPing Zhao
Director of Laboratory of Synthetic Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS)Guoping Zhao is the Director of Laboratory of Synthetic Biology, at the Institute of Plant Physiology and Ecology (IPPE), Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences (SIBS), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He was elected as a member of the CAS in 2005 and elected as the President of the Chinese Society for Microbiology in 2006. Since 2002, he has been the Executive Director of the Chinese National Human Genome Center at Shanghai and Director of the National Engineering Center for BioChip at Shanghai.
