Citrus unshiu, known as tangerine, is of Japanese origin. Currently the fruit is grown in Japan, Spain, central China, Korea, the US, the tip of South Africa, South America, around the Black Sea and the Neretva valley in Croatia. The fruit is eaten directly or prepared as juice. The dried peel is used in Chinese cuisine.
