We present a genome assembly from an individual female (the hook-banded wasp hoverfly; Arthropoda; Insecta; Diptera; Syrphidae). The genome sequence spans 870.80 megabases. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 5 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the X sex chromosome. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 18.45 kilobases in length.
