Abstract

ABSTRACT: Interprofessional learning experiences (interprofessional education) for nursing students have been associated with enhanced practice outcomes after graduation. A simulation used in a prelicensure baccalaureate program integrated a chaplain into the care of a patient who was experiencing emotional distress. Fifteen senior nursing students had opportunities to consult the chaplain during stressful patient encounters. Analysis of anonymous surveys provided new understanding about the effects of utilizing chaplaincy resources in the simulation setting for nursing students. Findings from this qualitative study will inform future interprofessional and holistic health simulations.
